Hello Beautiful Soul…
If you’re reading this, you may be struggling with the loss of your fur baby. And when it’s your “heart animal” (a super close connection) it seems unbearable.
Grief is a “normal” part of life. Sometimes it’s because of divorce or the death of a friend or family member, but animal grief has it’s own tricky side.
Our animals are that unconditional love that never fails. Through thick and thin, and without criticism, they stand, (sit or lay) by us.
And for many, our animals make life much more meaningful and tolerable.
So how long should we grieve?
It’s different for everyone.
But what does it mean when the grief becomes chronic – lingering for not just months, but YEARS.
First of all, you’re not alone. I’ve talked with many animal lovers who were struggling to get past the deep pain of loss… that seems to be never ending.
If this is happening for you, then it’s time to “look under the hood”.
This means getting out of your head, and into your heart (I call it “Harnessing Your Heart”). It’s the only way to get to the bottom of what’s really going on at a deep level.
You see, our animals can be like a soothing band-aid that can hide the pain of other losses, abuses, or past pain.
And when they’re gone, unhealed emotional wounds (I call them “heart scars”) can become exposed.
The problem is, we just don’t know exactly where that pain is coming from. It hides on a deep level, and gets easily covered Up.
My zone of genius over the years as a healer has been helping people heal their heart on a deep level.
Why is that important?
If we don’t heal, then we risk covering the pain with other things: Emotional eating, drinking, drugs and other addictions, and even animal hoarding.
I know what it’s like to go through loss and emotional pain: I lost two babies (one was stillborn and one was premature), I lost my parents, step parents, there was painful alcoholism in the family, abuse, and of course many animals lost.
I know the affect that these experiences have which included for me: Weight fluctuations, multiple marriages and self worth issues.
When I finally got into helping people heal through life coaching, hypnotherapy and mind-body wellness I wrote an award-winning book on why diets don’t work. (Because the answer is healing our heart on a deep level.)
So, when animal grief doesn’t seem to be letting up and lingers on, the answer is going deep inside ourselves. But that can be tough to do alone.
We need another set of ears that can listen and someone who’s life mission is to help us heal our heart scars, get unstuck and know that our animals are still around us like the angel that they are so we can live the life we’re meant to.
I’m here for you.
Love and Blessings,
Kathleen
